George Joseph is a Member in the Charleston office of Bailey & Wyant, PLLC. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Wheeling College in 1985 and his Juris Doctorate from West Virginia University College of Law in 1988. He was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar that same year. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the West Virginia Bar Association, the Kanawha County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Defense Research Institute, and the West Virginia Defense Trial Council.

George focuses his practices in the areas of insurance defense, medical and professional malpractice, product liability and personal injury, governmental liability, labor and employment law, workers' compensation and deliberate intent, toxic torts and environmental law. He is frequently retained by clients to represent them in matters involving trucking accidents, and industrial bodily injury and death claims. He is also frequently retained to represent emergency service providers covered under the West Virginia Medical Professional Liability Act, and by governmental agencies in matters involving alleged governmental misconduct.

George frequently lectures on topics related to various aspects of litigation, including, medical professional liability, deliberate intent, employment law, and insurance coverage and bad faith.

Recent News

[05/18/12]  Thomas E. Buck and Bruce M. Clark have won the case of Yanchak v. Lindh and Youth Services System, Inc. This matter, which was pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, sought to establish liability against the defendant Youth Services System, Inc., under the doctrines of employer liablilty and respondeat superior. Mr. Buck and Mr. Clark defended Youth Services Systems, Inc., in this matter and were victorious on behalf of their clients.

[05/07/12] Bailey & Wyant would like to welcome our newest associate attorney, Dawn George, to the Firm. Ms. George is a 2007 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law.

[04/20/12] David Mincer and John Fuller gave a presentation at Glade Springs on Insurance Portfolios and Unemployment Compensation.

[04/19/12] Billie Jo Streyle won a summary judgment for a State correctional facility on all claims that were alleged by the Plaintiffs against the correctional facility. The Court granted summary judgment on the Plaintiff's claims for cruel and unusual punishment, pursuant to the United States Constitution and West Virginia Constitution. The Court also granted summary judgment on a loss of consortium claim alleged by the Plaintiffs. The Court found there was no genuine issue of material fact regarding any claims alleged by the Plaintiffs and dismissed the case in its entirety.
