Mark Troy is a Member in Bailey & Wyant's Charleston office. He was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in 1994. He has also been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts in the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia. Mark obtained his law degree from West Virginia University and his Bachelor's in Business Administration degree from Marshall University. He is a former U.S. Army Officer, Armor Branch, and also owned and operated his own law practice before becoming a Member at Bailey & Wyant.

Mark focuses his practice on civil litigation, construction claims, personal injury claims, employment law matters, product defects, property damage claims, premises liability and governmental tort claims. He is a trained mediator and a member of both the West Virginia Bar Association and the Contractor's Association of West Virginia.

Mark has actively participated, as local defense counsel for a tobacco manufacturer, in one of the largest medical monitoring cases pursued in the State, to date-a case which ended in a mistrial and, later, a defense verdict. He has also obtained, as counsel for a local manufacturer whose corporate assets were misappropriated, one of the largest plaintiff's verdicts in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Mr. Troy regularly lectures on issues such as the liabilities commonly faced by utility companies (especially water and waste water utilities), premises liability issues, governmental tort claims and employment law issues.

Mark resides in Charleston with his wife, Sue, and in his free time enjoys biking, weightlifting and motorcycle riding, along with Marshall and WVU athletic events. He is an active supporter of jazz, classical and other music in the community and is a Member of the Board of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. He is also an active supporter of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and is the author of a children's book, "A Soldier's Star," which is designed to help children cope with the loss of a parent.
